26    Ride: 2N63, 2N37... fall down.  Sore ribs, sore neck, sore leg (rasberry).  Just sore. Bike OK, took some plastic off left moose guard, and not quite a quarter inch from the metal handguard.  All protective gear worked; Left elbow protector scraped, chest protector has scratch in it, helmet took a little scratch on a plastic screw holding the visor.  A little tear on left sleeve, and left pants by hip. (Hip fine, little bruise on left leg.) All protection seemed to work as advertisedl.  Able to ride home with tail dragging. Now I need to find a rib protector as my flank is bare. (Think if I didn't have the Moose guards I would have actually injured my left hand.  (I slid out at a concrete stream crossing. Another learning experience.)

(Bike parts are cheap, they can be replaced, body parts cannot.)

26-27   LA to Barstow to Vegas, District 37 Dual Sport Ride

At the Start in Palmdale with Jane (my chase crew), at the Adobe (day one), with Ryan, (my guardian angle), and starting day two in Barstow.

Completed day one (Palmdale to Barstow) in 8 hours.  About 150 miles, with seven falls.  Arrived in Barstow at 3PM. (Made very good time.  I did beat the hell out of myself doing it.)
Ryan Jaeger gave much needed advice, and much needed assistance throughout the day.  He ventured on the hard sections and we met up again at the intersections.  I could not have finished the day without his help and assistance.  Thank you Ryan.  The next day I started the course, but immediately realized that my wrist would not tolerate riding.  (Nor would my ribs, my knees, and every muscle in my body.  I immediately turned around and cancelled the day.  There is always next year for the Barstow to Vegas run.  I definitely got my money's worth out of the ride. I rode faster that I ever had on the dirt, on the river rocks, on the deep soft sand, and up the steep, and rock filled rutted hill climb.  (Well at least about two thirds up that hill.  I walked the last third, and Ryan rode my bike up to the summit. Thanks!)  The DRZ worked great, the GPS worked great and most importantly, all the safety equipment I wore worked great.  Without it I may be more than just a bit sore after all those falls.  What a great day Dual Sporting.
